VialHaus Cold portable vial cooler

Straight answer

How cold it gets.

It is a thermoelectric cooler, so it cools relative to the room. Up to about 80 F in the room it holds 36 to 46 F. In a hot car or direct sun it runs warmer than the set point. Those are the manufacturer's figures; our own 72-hour log goes on the product page when it is done.

A storage and travel box with active cooling, not a refrigerator.

Complete the kit

Cold for this week. Organized for the rest.

The Cold keeps the vials you are using now. A case keeps the rest in order in the fridge and the bag. The pair covers both, for less than buying them apart.

Travel

Carry-on approved. TSA compliant.

The battery is about 50 Wh, under the 100 Wh limit airlines set for lithium cells, so the Cold rides in the cabin with you. TSA lets cooling accessories for medically necessary items through screening, and the travel card in your kit quotes the exact TSA and EU wording to show the officer.

Questions

Questions.

Does it work in a hot hotel room?

Up to about 75 F in the room, it holds 36 to 46 F. Above about 80 F it drifts warmer than the set point, because it cools relative to the room. If the room is hot, turn the air conditioning on, keep it out of the sun, and keep the lid closed. If you need a fixed temperature in a hot room with no power, no portable cooler of this size does that. Use the hotel fridge and the VialHaus case.

Why not just use the kitchen fridge?

Do, for the vials you are not using this week. The Cold is for the ones you are: on the nightstand, on a desk, in the car, in a hotel. It is also for the fridge door problem, where things roll, chip and get lost. The tray keeps up to 28 vials upright and in order.

Can I fly with it in hand luggage?

Yes. The built-in battery is 13,600 mAh at 3.7 V, about 50 Wh, under the 100 Wh limit airlines apply to devices with lithium cells, so it travels in carry-on. TSA allows medically necessary liquids in carry-on above the 3.4 oz limit; declare them at the checkpoint. Cooling accessories for those items meet TSA guidance at screening. TSA does not approve products, so we do not say "TSA approved". The EU rule is on our travel page, and the travel card in your digital kit has both.

How big is it?

Outside 9.6 x 8.1 x 7.3 inches, about 5 lb with the battery. Inside the tray is 7.3 x 4.1 x 1.6 inches. It sits on a nightstand and fits a carry-on.

What fits inside?

The tray is 7.3 x 4.1 x 1.6 inches inside (186 x 105 x 40 mm). Standard 3 ml vials stand upright, up to 28 of them. 10 ml vials and pens lie flat in the side bay. Tall 10 ml vials with the cap on do not stand.

Where does it ship from, and how fast?

From a warehouse inside the United States. Most orders arrive in 3 to 8 days, tracked, free. There is no import charge at the door because nothing crosses a border. We ship to the United States only for now.

What if it stops cooling?

30-day returns for any reason. If it stops cooling in the first 30 days we replace it. Choose "Standard + 2-year cover" at checkout and that promise runs two years from delivery, no forms, just email hello@vialhaus.com.

What is in the free digital kit?

Three things, linked in your order confirmation email: the web Date Tracker, a printable label sheet, and a travel card with the actual TSA and EU wording.

Why a pilot built this

Every vial in its place.

VialHaus started because the founder, a long-haul pilot, was packing vials in a lunchbox with a hotel ice bag and hoping. Every cooler on the market was cut for pens. So we found a proper vial-tray cooler that ships from inside the US, wrote down the real airport rules, and built a free date tracker to go with it. Based in Lisbon, shipping to the US. hello@vialhaus.com
